The Port of Sète was delighted to welcome the inaugural call of the Mexican cruise ship Vidanta Elegant this weekend, in the presence of the Sète Cruise Club team and its President, Philippe Malagola.
With this launch, Grupo Vidanta, a renowned operator of luxury resorts in Mexico, is entering the cruise industry with a distinctly premium and intimate concept.
Accommodating just 216 passengers, the Vidanta Elegant offers an experience comparable to that of a luxury yacht and is sailing its very first Mediterranean season this year. The company's clientele, primarily from North America (75% from the United States and Canada, and 25% from Mexico), is discovering some of the Mediterranean's most iconic destinations through an exclusive travel experience that combines exceptional service with authentic cultural immersion.
The Port of Sète is particularly pleased to welcome more than six calls from this new cruise line during its inaugural season, further confirming the destination's growing appeal within the luxury and premium cruise market.
The 2026 season is already shaping up to be especially dynamic, with more than 80 scheduled cruise calls and nearly 60,000 passengers expected to visit the Occitanie region.
At the same time, an economic impact study is currently underway to accurately assess the contribution of cruise tourism to the local and regional economy.
A heartfelt thank you to all the partners whose commitment made this successful inaugural call possible, and a warm welcome to the Vidanta Elegant in Sète! 🚢☀️
